i guess watching step up 2 reminds me quite a lot of high school musical 1, surprisingly.
plots are quite similiar. both movies potraits the characters having problems with their
passion---they can't put it to good use.
Andie West's (Briana Evigan) lifestyle isn't working for her. Her guardian wasn't allowing her onto the streets any longer. Similiarly, Gabriella Montez in HSM wasn't impressing the school initially about her hidden talent in singing. As both stories end, both actresses were wearing red and dancing. haha. which i think a hidden purpose is present.
Chase Collins (Robert Hoffman) found life in his dancing chore despite 'having been dancing since he learnt walking' after meeting his crush. Zac Efron finally found a perfect singing partner after being forced to sing with Gabriella. lol. both found themselves in a seemingly too awkward a situation too. Chase was only dropping by in MSA(dancing school name) when he met this new girl being forced into MSN whom he commented her as a 'little great dancer'. Zac found himself being sabotaged to sing with Gabriella who is a new girl in town too. lol.
With a little speck of HSM2, Chase doesn't get to kiss Andie till the end of the show. haha. (was very very irritated when these msn alert thingy on the right bottom of my screen kept showing up during the tree scene. ARGH. wrong timing to sign in, ppl ) Spoiler of HSM2 is that old man. Spoiler of Step up2 is the old truck. lol.
not bad a show la. some moves are just too sleek to even try to imitate. plot is predictable still. except the rotten fish part is quite innovative and the acting of background characters lubricated the leads. i like the part whereby Chase made the first step to walk out of the find raising event because of street competition. SLEEK.
